DO YOU QUALIFY FOR AFFORABLE HOUSING?

Through partnerships with private landlords and developers, the city continues to create affordable housing opportunities for low and moderate-income households.

Based on your earnings and the number of people in your household, do you qualify for affordable housing? Using the gross income on the last pay stub of the year or on your prior year's tax return for all household members can act as a loose guide.

Rehabilitation Assistance Available to Summit Homeowners

Income-eligible owners of homes in Summit may be eligible for up to $25,000 in assistance to make improvements to their homes. Eligible repairs include the repair or replacement of heating, electrical, and plumbing systems, structural repairs, repairs to correct code violations, lead-based paint remediation, and stabilization measures. Energy-saving measures such as insulation, new windows, and storm door are also eligible. Funding from the Union County Home Improvement Program is provided as a zero-percent interest, deferred loan. No payments are due until the property is sold or the title is transferred. Homeowners aged 60 or older are eligible for up to $5,000 as a direct grant with no repayment at sale or title transfer.
